Well, Merritt's bili level is on the rise again. sigh.
It is as high as it was when he was admitted this past weekend. sigh.
The doctor said it was unlikely that we would need to admit him again.
hope. hope. hope.
We go in on Sunday for another level. sigh.
We continue to wait to get to know the non-jaundice Merritt.
What does jaundice do to a baby? He is a cross between yellow and orange. His eyes are cloudy. It was only today that I caught a hint of blue in them. Jaundice makes the baby extremely lethargic. Feedings take about an hour because I have to work to keep him awake--strip him down, use a wet cloth, etc. You have to wake him up to eat. It is important to make sure that he is eating well because the way in which to decrease the jaundice is through the pooping/peeing.
