Summer 2010 on the Beach

We went to Port Aransas with some friends a couple of weekends ago. Erik aka "Lord of the Water" made sure we took advantage of as much time on the beach as possible. (we were quite happy to oblige)

The boys loved it! Merritt, if not for the waves constantly pushing him back, would have just walked into the ocean and beyond enjoying each wave. The saltwater didn't bother the boys and they loved building and digging in the sand (not a fan of the Hot sand, though).

Merritt was especially fond of chasing the seagulls.

Evy made sure that we buried almost every seashell we found.

Erik was even able to get in some time body boarding (though his board broke). Note the seaweed: this is after they scooped 1/4 mile of seaweed that was 3 feet tall and 8 feet deep. Wow.

Sheila molded a gigantic face in the sand complete with a seaweed fauxhawk (and lost her first and probably only pair of prescription sunglasses and her favorite earrings . . . Erik bought them for her).

We dined on splendid seafood and cajun celebrations (awesome live entertainment that kept Merritt enthralled)!

This was our first vacation in two years, and we were kept on our toes--The rubber strip kept coming off of our windshield during the travel hours . . . and we were pulled over by a friendly officer going home . . . and given an official warning.

More to come as . . . including the Curse of the Blue Crayon in the Dryer.
