Being Outdoors

We had a loverly time today. We spend several hours at The Heard with some really fun friends and enjoyed the picnic, finding and playing with ladybugs, walking through the trails, and relishing good conversation.

The weather was perfect for being outside . . . warm, cooler in the shade, some breeze. I enjoyed having the kids at an age where they can provide their own locomotion. Merritt does pretty well getting around. It is fun to see what things are interesting to him. He wanted to touch every plant and every blade of grass. He continually tried to pick up exposed roots thinking they were sticks he could walk around with, just like his brother.

This evening, I was reminded of the quote:

Trees are the earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven.---Rabindranath Tagore
